How it runs

From enquiry to the first photograph

Four steps, no surprises. You will always know who is in the chair next and how long it takes.

Enquiry

Send your date and venue type. You receive availability and a plain-language quote for the bride and anyone joining.

Trial

We build the look in the studio, test it against daylight and flash, and write down every product used.

Schedule

A morning timeline lands in your inbox, worked backward from the ceremony and shared with your photographer.

Wedding day

The kit arrives early, the room stays calm, and the bride is finished with time to spare before dressing.

The artist

I would rather prep your skin than cover it.

I am Nadine Ward, and Cobalt Ward began as a single chair by a north-facing window. My work starts well before the wedding morning: hydration, texture and undertone, so the base I put down has something to hold onto.

Brides tell me they want to look like themselves, only rested. That means buildable layers instead of one heavy mask, blush placed where you actually flush, and a lip that survives a glass of something cold. Everything is tested in daylight and flash at your trial, because a look that photographs well and a look that feels like you should be the same look.

On the day I arrive early, work quietly, and leave the room calmer than I found it.

Questions brides ask first

How far ahead should I book?

Most brides enquire nine to twelve months out and hold the date before the trial. If your wedding is sooner, still send the date — cancellations and quieter mid-week dates open up more often than you would expect.

Do you travel to the venue?

Yes. Wedding morning bookings are on location by default, in whichever room has the best natural light. Travel beyond the usual studio radius is added to your quote before you confirm, never afterwards.

How long does the morning take?

Allow around ninety minutes for the bride and forty-five for each additional person. Your timeline is worked backward from the ceremony with a deliberate buffer, so the bride finishes before dressing rather than during it.

Is a trial really necessary?

For the bride, yes — it is where wear time, finish and colour get decided without any pressure. Bridal party members do not usually need one; a reference photo and a short note about what they avoid is enough.

What if I have sensitive or reactive skin?

Tell me at enquiry. The kit includes fragrance-free and non-comedogenic options, and we can patch test at the trial so there are no unknowns on the morning. Lashes can be skipped or swapped for individual clusters.

Which products do you work with?

A mixed professional kit chosen for longevity and photography rather than brand loyalty, with a wide shade range for deeper and very fair complexions. You leave your trial with the exact list, including the two items worth buying for touch-ups.
